Granola is one of my favorite snacks. It's healthy, full of great protein and fruits, and goes well at any time of day.

But I hate having to carve through the plastic bags of it that all end up in the dumpster. So what's the solution? Make your own of course!

Healthy homemade granola

Ingredients:

  1. 3 cups rolled oats
  2. 1/2 cup dried fruit (use your favorites, such as raisins, bananas, craisins, and blueberries. If you have old fruit starting to go bad, dehydrate it yourself and add it in!)
  3. 1 cup crushed nuts (use your favorites, such as peanuts, cashews, pecans, and almonds)
  4. 1/2 cup seeds (use your favorites, such as flax, chia, sunflower, and hemp)
  5. 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  6. 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  7. 1/2 cup olive oil or melted coconut oil
  8. 1/2 cup maple syrup (or honey)
  9. 1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
  2. Combine all dry ingredients and mix gently
  3. Add in wet ingredients and mix until evenly coated
  4. Spread in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with a silicone mat
  5. Bake until golden, 20-25 minutes
  6. Let it cool, and enjoy
  7. Store granola in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks, or in the freezer for up to 3 months
