Today's a great day, and here's why:

A ban on single-use plastics is set to go into effect for restaurants in England.

Why is that great?

Because it'll include plastic utensils, plastic plates, and foam trays, and drastically reduce the estimated 5+ billion single-use plates and utensils used yearly.

What do I think about it?

With the support of over 95% of Englanders, it's abundantly clear that this ban is the right move. That said, it only applies to restaurants and not other pivotal places like grocery stores. Disposable packaging is unnecessary and should be entirely banned, so let's hope this is an encouraging first step along a steep path to far-reaching environmental solutions.
